We climb to Pico dos Barcelos, a magnificent viewing point 355 meters above sea level. Here you can enjoy the beautiful view over the bay of Funchal. We stop here for twenty minutes. Next, our transport climbs the Eira do Serrado. Here, you delight in one of the most extraordinary landscapes views on the island. We stop here 45 minutes to enjoy the beautiful scenery – maybe one of the greenest island of Madeira.
In the Nun’s Valley you will further enjoy the surrounding countryside, forest and also the typical Madeira houses. From the vantage point of Nun’s Valley, you will see a small village clinging to the mountainside, right in the heart of the island. The village is very isolated and the inhabitants live mainly from cultivating. The local chestnuts are delicious and are used in daily cooking.
